BIRDS
'Silent wings - Barn owl'
67 x 47cm Pastel on Colourfix paper
One of the most widely distributed species of owl the Barn owl occurs right throughout the southern hemisphere and up into the northern as well. It often takes up residence in the rafters of deserted farm buildings (thus earning its common name) and during the day sits eerily silent, observing any activity below . Towards dusk they emerge on ghostly silent wings to hunt for small prey like rats and mice.
